Wind Tunnel used for classroom demonstration at Oak Grove Middle School in Concord

May 26, 2019

On May 21, LSSC volunteers used our vertical wind tunnel to provide a classroom educational experience for 6th graders at Oak Grove Middle School in Concord. This activity was a pilot demonstration for our ability to engage an entire class in taking and analyzing data at an age appropriate level according to performance expectations of the Next Generation Science Standards. The learning objective was understanding how multiple forces add to cause motion of a parachute and weight, in this case, the balance of downward gravitational forces and upward aerodynamic drag forces.
