Over 700 people came to our exhibits at the June 15 Summer Fest Celebration at the Livermore Public Library. Kids decorated parachutes and attached them to a toy space capsule in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. They then inserted them at the top of our wind tunnel and watched them go down slowly and then up and out the top as wind velocity increased. Kids and adults did water drain-time experiments and gravel bed porosity measurements to learn about the effects of porosity and particle size on permeability.
