QuestSparks!

Introducing QuestSparks!

This fall, we’re testing out a new way to offer families an engaging STEM activity under the shade-sail of Quest Plaza in downtown Livermore. These pilot events are part of an effort to enhance Quest Plaza as a vibrant learning space where curiosity thrives and families connect through exploration.

What to Expect

Each Saturday features an engaging activity from our popular Engineering Explorations events:

  • August 9, 10-12 pm – Wind Voyagers – Design and test your own parachute-like flyer in a vertical wind tunnel. How long can you keep yours afloat?
  • August 23, 10-12 pm – Plank Puzzlers – Take on creative engineering challenges using wooden planks to build and design solutions.
  • September 13, 10-12 pm – Paper Rockets – Build and launch your own air-powered paper rocket!
  • November 15, 10-12 pm – Treadmill Tinkering – Explore friction, momentum, and stability on a moving platform.

MORE SESSIONS IN 2026!

Location: Quest Plaza, Stockmen’s Park, 29 South Livermore Ave, Livermore, CA

Due to limited space, please register for an entry time: 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, or 11:30 am.  Each time slot is limited to 30 participants.  Stay as long as you like.  Activities are self-paced and open-ended.  Registration is required to reserve your place and to receive updates about weather or event changes.

By attending one these pilot events, you’re helping us design science learning in public spaces that are accessible, fun, and built for everyone.  More dates will be announced in the near future.

Please note: These are smaller, single-activity pop-ups, not full-scale events. Our goal is to offer more frequent, casual opportunities for the public to explore STEM right in the community.  We expect most attendees to stay for 15-30 mins.
